STRAINERS (‘T’ Type, ‘Y’ Type, Basket Type, Simplex, Duplex)

As the name implies, a strainer helps screen out particulate matter in a piping system. Although steam traps get most of the glory, strainers also play an important role in the efficient operation of a well-designed system.

ASVIN offers strainers in a wide choice of sizes and materials to meet most pipeline straining requirements. All of our strainers are made to high standards and are guaranteed to be free from defects in workmanship or material.

Debris should be removed from the steam flow because it can damage to plant, and may also contaminate the final product. A strainer contains a mesh through which the steam must pass. Any passing debris will be retained by the mesh. A strainer should regularly be cleaned to avoid blockage. Various types of strainers are available to suit the process requirements

Y Strainers are used in application where the amount of solids to be removed is small, and where frequent clean - out is not required. A Y-Strainer has the advantage of being able to be installed in either a horizontal or vertical position. However, in both cases, the screening element or "leg" must be on the "downside" of the strainer body so that entrapped solids can be properly collected and held for disposal. A blow down plug on the drain port will allow clean-out without removal of the screen, and without interrupting the process flow

Basket Strainers are in the form of a basket. With a lifting handle, all particulate retained by the screen can be easily removed from top for disposal. They are intended for applications where large amounts of solids particulate are expected and where the clean out will be frequent

T- strainers are a custom fabricated compound strainer designed to remove foreign particles from pipeline. Tee strainers are used where a compact accessible strainers is needed for protection of valves.

When We Cannot Shut Down the Line to Clean the Strainer, Duplex Strainers are used Allow you to clean or change-out the dirty basket without stopping the process and with no leakage into the opened basket chamber.

ASVIN Duplex strainers provide a bubble tight seal to the "off-line" basket chamber, and so can be used on pump suction side, and with fuel oils etc.

ASVIN Duplex strainers include O ring seals on the basket seat to insure against particulate by-pass caused by poor basket to body seal in conventional duplex strainers.

ASVIN Duplex strainers are designed with a 3-way type ball valve requiring very low torque to turn from one basket chamber to the other. This allows the use of a remote actuator so that switching to a clean basket can be automated with the addition of a differential pressure switch

Duplex Strainers are designed for applications where flow cannot be shut down to service the strainer screen. Change over is accomplished by use of control valves.
